REMEMBRANCE
TESTIMONIES

We believe
in the power of
sharing testimonies.

But Peter and John answered them,
“Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God,
you must judge, for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard.

– Acts 4:20 ESV

At Remembrance Church, we are inspired by God’s constant movement, fueling our excitement to share testimonies that uplift one another and celebrate His ongoing work in our lives.

LIFE CHANGE

Rachelle Denhof

Rachelle once lived a life centered on her own personal desires, but after years on that path, she found her way back to the simple, foundational faith of her childhood. Now, she passionately shares her love for singing praises to the Lord and cherishes the time she spends in His presence. Rachelle’s journey is a beautiful reflection of what it means to truly abide in the Lord.

Joe Barnett

Joe grew up in a Christian household but drifted away, ultimately landing in prison for two years and struggling with the consequences of his choices for years afterward. It wasn’t until late 2023, when he and his wife fully surrendered their lives to Christ, that Joe began to experience a profound and transformative change in his life.

Dan Fase

“Cultural Christianity” would be the perfect description of the lifestyle Dan was living. He had the perfect job, house, family, and showed up on Sunday mornings, but still felt like he was missing something. After being challenged and engaged in the Rooted program, Dan’s life changed drastically to look more like Christ’s in his everyday life.

Tara Treizenberg

Tara suddenly lost her husband and entered a season of grief, pain, and sorrow. God continues to comfort her through that season of life and shape her into the worshipper that she is today. Although her husband will forever be missed by her and her children, Tara abides in Christ and His Spirit everyday.

Greg Shoemaker

As a self-proclaimed “non-reader”, sitting down to spend time reading the Bible is something that is hard to do for Greg. However, he knew God’s Word is the greatest catalyst for change in a person’s life, so he found a way to turn his daily work commute into intentional time in God’s Word.

Medical Hardship

The Hall’s

Derrick and Viviean discovered they were expecting their first son, Bennett, in early 2023, only to face serious health concerns during a routine check-up in the second trimester. Committed to prayer and trust in the Lord, the Hall family devoted the following months to fighting for Bennett’s health.

Michelle Meeter

Michelle was finishing a workout when she suddenly felt chest pain. The next several weeks would include many medications, hosptial visits, tests, fears, and anxieties. Michelle surrendered her fears and anxieties to God in prayer and got to witness God’s miracle power in her own life.

Jeff Antvelink

Jeff Antvelink shares about the power of God and the work Christ has done in his life through his experience being hospitalized due to Covid. This is the full interview of Jeff sharing his story.

Kristen Black

After a severe asthma attack and several days in the hospital, Kristen felt the power of real prayer and life change through God’s provision and healing touch. Her life has been changed forever, witnessed by her baptism on January 29th, 2023.

The Bengelink’s

In 2016, Jim experienced a stroke that forced him to spend months in Mary Freebed. Jim and Joanne share their experience of how they saw God working throughout the entire season. Now, their faith is deeper, their marriage is sweeter, and they continue to say, “God, you are so good!”

Kevin Slowik has a passion for the Gospel and strives to make Christ known and make disciples wherever he goes.

Serving

Tracy and Aubrey Busman

When driving home from downtown Grand Rapids, 7-year-old Aubrey Busman noticed some homeless people living in the park. Seeing these people in need inspired Aubrey to go home, sell some of her toys, and use the money to help these people. This is her story.

Nancy Schoofs

As a long time member of Remembrance, Nancy has continued to find new ways to further God’s kingdom. In this testimony, Nancy shares about her experiencing serving in Grand Rapids Pregnancy Resource Center (PRC).

Zach Huyser

When prompted by the Holy Spirit to help someone on the side of the road, Zach finally responded with obedience. This was a key moment in Zach’s walk with the Lord as he now looks to serve and make Christ known no matter where he is and what he is doing.

Kentucky Mission Trip

After several EF1 tornadoes tore through Kentucky, Remembrance was able to send a small team to help a few of the local towns who were affected. They went down to serve, but came back blessed by how they saw the Lord moving.

John and Holly Roelofs

John and Holly decided to get out of their comfort zones and join on one of Remembrance’s Downdown Outreach mornings. This is their experience of how God prompted them to go and how it effected their lives.

Scott Higbee

Scott was challenged through the Rooted program to serve in the community so he started by serving the Walker Police Department lunch.

LEgacy

George VanLaan
